Welsh regions 'to benefit from devolution

Data - North Wales Growth deal has been pledged - SantanderCB

A North Wales growth deal has been pledged by Chancellor George Osborne, joining the newly announced Cardiff Capital Region City Deal and support for a Swansea Bay City Deal as key devolution measures for Wales. The chancellor unveiled the measures in his Budget, saying it would ensure that North Wales was 'better connected to the Northern Powerhouse'. The agreement on a £1.2bn Cardiff Capital Region City Deal is expected to lead to £4bn of private sector investment and the creation of 25,000 jobs. There was also support for the proposed Enterprise Zone in Port Talbot through enhanced capital allowances to investors within that zone, subject to agreement with the Welsh Government on the boundaries within which ECAs will be available. South East Wales, alongside South West England, will benefit from a science and innovation audit designed to map the area's research strengths and identify areas of potential global competitive advantage.
