UK car makers lifted by strong domestic sales

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders has reported that he number of cars made in the UK last month was up 13.1% year on year to 146,955. The sector continued to buck the gloomy mood across the rest of the manufacturing industry thanks to strong domestic sales, which rose 24.4%, whilst exports climbed 9.1%. Output was 10.6% higher over January and February than it was over the same period last year, with 284,507 vehicles built during the two months.
