UK ad market grows at fastest rate since 2010

The Advertising Association reported that the UK advertising market last year expanded at its highest pace since 2010, as marketers increased spending across most media apart from print. Total advertising spending rose 5.8% to £18.6bn, according to figures compiled with Ware, an advertising research body. The fastest growth was in online, which increased 15% to £7.19bn. Mobile advertising grew 59% to £1.62bn. TV ad spending rose 5.4% to £4.46m. However, advertisers cut spending on national newspapers by 4.7% to £1.37bn. Magazine ad spending was down 4.3% to £993m. Outdoor advertising rose 3% to more than £1bn for the first time. The Advertising Association forecast that total ad spending would grow 5.8% this year and 5.4% in 2016 to more than £20bn.
