Tech boom's 50,000 jobs

Tech City UK, Britain's Digital Sector has Creats 50,000 - SantanderCB

A study by government-backed Tech City UK has found that Britain's digital sector has created 50,000 jobs in a year and is growing a third faster than the wider economy. The industry now provides 1.56m jobs in the UK, an 11.2% increase over the past three years. It also boasts an average salary of £50,000, a third more than the typical wage elsewhere. The quickest growing niche is app and software development. The report also identified 27 tech clusters around the country, with Leicester the newest entrant. The sector as a whole enjoyed a total annual turnover of £161bn in 2014, which is 32% higher than the average turnover growth of the rest of the economy.
