Strong growth for online parcel volumes in February

Charts - Retail parcel volumes rose 16.8% on the year in February - SantanderCB

According to the IMRG MetaPack UK Delivery Index online retail parcel volumes rose 16.8% on the year in February. A month-on-month fall is usual in February, but the 14.4% decline from January was less than the 20% drop in February 2015. Sales growth rose 18% during the month, as retailers discontinued discounting activities, and average parcel order values were up by 19% on the year. IMRG head of e-logistics Andrew Starkey warned that consumer confidence could be affected by major events such as the EU referendum, the US presidential elections and the Chinese slowdown.
