Stamp duty change boosts house sales

The National Association of Estate Agents has announced that 360 potential buyers were registered per branch last month, the highest level for December since 2004. The figures indicate that the reforms to stamp duty announced in the autumn statement have helped boost the property market. However, the NAEA cautioned that a chronic shortage of new homes coming to market could push up house prices.
