Santander-financed deal win “Deal of the Year” Award

Insider Magazine, the respected national business publication, held its annual “Central and East of England Dealmakers Awards” dinner on the 5th November to recognise the contribution of professional services to the Midlands region. This event was attended by over 250 people from the professional community.

The winner of the Deal of the Year (above £10m) was the Euro 120m financing for Sepura plc of its acquisition of the Spanish global group, Teltronic S.A.U.   Cambridge- based Sepura is a leading global provider (across 78 countries), of critical communications solutions for the Professional Mobile Radio (PMR) market.

Santander took a E40m / 1/3rd role in the financing which was completed in just six weeks.  In coming to their decision, the judges were impressed that this was a very significant deal for Sepura, and a great story of a UK-based technology company making a game-changing strategic acquisition of global significance.

Jason Necker, Regional Director for the Large Corporate Group in Midlands said,  “The opportunity to support Sepura with its finance requirements builds upon the success of Santander UK becoming a chosen International Trade partner earlier this year and recognising our strong global footprint in both Spain (where Teltronic have their HQ) and in Latin America.  This helped us to become a key member of the bank group and we are delighted that this financing for Sepura has won the award”.
