Richard Newell highlights Santander's work in UK agricultural sector

Richard Newell, Head of Agriculture, Santander Corporate & Commercial Banking, writes in Wales Business Insider of the crucial importance of Britain's agricultural sector to the country's overall economic health. 'At Santander we understand that agricultural businesses not only need long term support from their bankers, they also need a relationship with an experienced, trusted professional,' he says. 'More than this, they need a bank that appreciates the changing landscape of the sector whether that is due to fluctuating commodity prices, greater exposure to Global Markets, innovation or diversification opportunities.' Newell explains that Santander has a team of experienced Agriculture Directors who have a deep understanding of the market and a track record of successfully building relationships with farmers and associated businesses. 'In addition to providing day to day banking, commercial mortgages, overdrafts and asset finance, our Agricultural Directors work in tandem with our specialists in Renewable Energy, International Trade, Manufacturing and Treasury to mention a few, whilst accessing the agricultural expertise across the globe,' he writes.
