A responsible approach can drive business growth

Outlining the role of Santander Corporate and Commercial Banking in driving business growth, Business Development Director Paul Brooks says the bank is committed to building long-term relationships with customers, spending time getting to understand their business and structuring solutions that meet their needs. The bank's 65 Corporate Banking Centres around the UK are well placed to provide supportive, knowledgeable advisers wherever customers need them. Mr Brooks says that there is an emphasis on developing growth plans based on responsible business principles in order to achieve long-term, sustainable success, and framing a business around corporate social responsibility can help to improve a business. The bank's efforts to support for the small business sector include working with Business in the Community to help SMEs develop responsible business practices. Santander is also funding an 'Access the Buyer' programme, a series of sector-specific events designed to give SMEs access to large corporations, including events in Cardiff and Newport covering the media and construction sectors with further events to come in early 2015. BITC's new Healthy High Streets regeneration initiative is also a way of bringing big businesses together with SMEs. Mr Brooks is particularly proud of BITC's annual Responsible Business Week running 20-26 April, which he says provides a chance for businesses to share ideas with other organisations in order to improve how they manage their business.
