Redditch-based Safety Technology International (Europe), a manufacturer of a unique range of products designed to protect fire and security equipment and help prevent false fire alarms, is to expand further into key European markets following a £400,000 funding deal with Santander Corporate & Commercial.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2014, STI (Europe) is a subsidiary of US-based parent Safety Technology. The group now markets more than 1,000 unique products dedicated to safety and theft-prevention, with most now found in businesses, workplaces and homes throughout the world. Its latest product is the Euro Stopper, which protects switches and call points from unwanted use and vandalism.
The firm’s products have been used in a number of major buildings and infrastructure projects, including at the Empire State Building, Heathrow’s new T2 terminal, and throughout the London Underground.
STI (Europe), which now employs 25 staff at its Worcestershire headquarters, has successfully moved into new markets in Europe and the Middle East and the funding from Santander Corporate & Commercial will be used to expand and export further into Germany, France and Spain. The firm has also used Santander’s unique Trade Portal and Trade Club services to help source overseas trading partners and better understand export opportunities.
Steve Hunt, Managing Director, STI (Europe), said: “We are focused on expanding further in the UK and also driving into new markets across Europe, the Middle East and beyond, which has resulted in a strong period of growth. It is an extremely exciting time to be involved with STI (Europe) and I am wholly confident the business will continue to grow over the next 20 years.”
John Hyde, Relationship Director, Santander Corporate & Commercial, said: “STI (Europe) is a great example of a niche UK manufacturer successfully pushing into new markets abroad, and we are delighted to be working with such a professional company. Santander is committed to helping UK businesses grow both at home and overseas, and with our considerable global strength and expertise, we are well placed to help UK manufacturers with their international growth plans.”
