Public sector hiring spree before election

Public Sector hiring

The latest Manpower employment outlook report has indicated that public sector hiring will outpace recruitment by private companies in the run-up to the general election. Optimism within the public sector is at its highest level for four years, with organisations such as the NHS needing to add more staff to maintain frontline services, while an increasing trend towards digitisation has prompted a rise in hiring for new skills. Scotland is the only part of the UK where the jobs market is set to worsen, due to the impact of falling oil prices on the energy industry. The statistics, based on data from 2,100 firms, showed that overall up to 70,000 positions are being created a month.
