The number of fast-growing businesses in the UK is at highest level in more than a decade

Businesses, 11,855 fast growing businesses in Britain - SantanderCB

An Enterprise Research Centre study has found that there are now 11,855 fast-growing businesses in Britain, the highest number for over a decade. The ERC defines fast-growing companies as those with over 10 staff recording average annual employment growth of 20% or more over three years. Although they account for only 7.5% of all companies they created roughly a third of the increase in private sector employment between 2012 and 2015. From 2009 to 2015 the number of high-growth firms rose by 36% outside London and 15% within the capital. Tax partner at UK200Group Whittingham Riddell Duncan Montgomery said that while government schemes like Growth Accelerator had now ceased, firms could continue to enjoy rapid growth if using the services of an accountant.
