North Lindsey College Transforms Facilities with Multi-Million Pound Funding Deal

North Lindsey College is set to modernise and refurbish a major part of its estate and provide state-of-the-art facilities for students after receiving £9 million from the Skills Funding Agency and agreeing the availability of £5.2 million from Santander Corporate & Commercial.

North Lindsey College, the Scunthorpe-based provider of further education and higher education, is set to modernise and refurbish a major part of its estate and provide state-of-the-art facilities for students after receiving £9 million from the Skills Funding Agency and agreeing the availability of £5.2 million from Santander Corporate & Commercial.

North Lindsey College is the largest provider of post-16 education and training in North Lincolnshire and has in excess of 6,000 students. The college not only provides a full range of further education programmes and apprenticeship courses but also allows students to gain higher education qualifications through their associate college relationship with a number of universities.

The funding from Santander Corporate & Commercial and the Skills Funding Agency has allowed the college to commence a long-term project of modernising and refurbishing, phase one of which is due for completion in summer 2015. This will see the college offer hi-tech workshops, laboratories, digital technologies and other flexible working spaces, significantly improving the learning facilities for its students.

Peter Doherty, Executive Director of Finance & Information, North Lindsey College, said: “We are excited to take forward phase one of our development strategy, which will see us significantly improve the learning facilities in response to the needs of current and future students and employers. The support provided from Santander has been invaluable and we are pleased to be working with them to provide a gateway to employment and contribute to a robust and financially secure and sustainable future for North Lincolnshire.”

Gareth Jones, Relationship Director, Santander Corporate & Commercial, said: “North Lindsey College provides an invaluable service to local students and is already highly successful as an education provider. We have been impressed with the commitment of the College and are confident this investment will enable them to increase the quality of their offering to students.”
