Meat - Food and drink company take on ten new staff - SantanderCB

Newthorpe-based food and drink company Giorgio's Continental has taken on ten new staff and plans to hire more following a £2.5m investment in additional manufacturing facilities.

Santander Corporate & Commercial lent the family-owned company £1m of the £2.5m it used to fund its recent expansion. The funding will also enable GCL Foods to expand its value add product range within the industrial and food service sectors.

The company is a wholesale supplier of food and beverage products and a manufacturer of premium ingredients, counting convenience food producer Greencore and Bakkavor, an international manufacturer of freshly prepared foods, among its clients. Giorgio's has an annual turnover of more than £25m and employs 65 staff.

Stephen Young, relationship director at Santander Corporate & Commercial, said: 'We have worked with Giorgio's for the last five years and in that time have seen the business go from strength to strength. They have carved out a market for themselves as a provider of quality food ingredients which are recognised in their impressive client list'.
