Santander Corporate & Commercial is today strengthening its support for local businesses and extending its presence in Hull & The Humber with the opening of a prestigious new Corporate Banking Centre at Humber Quays in Hull.
The expansion is part of Santander’s strategic plan to grow its presence across the UK and demonstrates its commitment to the region’s businesses following steady growth to establish a local presence across Yorkshire & North/North East Lincolnshire.
The new Corporate Banking Centre is located in a prime location by the Marina and historic dock area, overlooking the Humber Estuary. The area is steeped in history: an estimated 50 million people in the US can claim ancestry from a journey that started in Hull between 1830-19141, for instance. The area will also be a key location for Hull when it becomes ‘City of Culture’ in 2017.
Relationship bankers at the Corporate Business Centre, which is located at 2 Humber Quays, Hull HU1 2BN, will provide a bespoke relationship banking service to corporate and commercial customers with a turnover above £250,000. Customers will be offered a full range of banking services, including asset finance, invoice finance, deposits, treasury, merchant recruitment, cash management and supplier payments.
The team for the new Hull branch will be led by Jonathan Thompson, Regional Director for the Humber & South Yorkshire region, who will oversee a team of four relationship directors, a business development director, two relationship managers and eight product partners.
Santander is focused on supporting businesses in Yorkshire & The Humber and along with the new Hull office, the bank has Corporate Business Centres in Sheffield, Chesterfield, Doncaster, and Barnsley with 33 total staff in the region. Santander has increased lending to businesses across the UK by an average of 9% per year over the last four years. In the Yorkshire & Humberside region, the bank has lent over £50 million in the last 12 months to August and has achieved lending growth over the UK average.
