A report from the British Retail Consortium and Google has revealed that Britons are increasingly using smartphones to shop online, with home and garden goods topping the list of the most-researched items. The use of mobiles to search for products outpaced that of tablets, with numbers up by 48% on phones compared with 7% for tablets. All countries and regions of the UK experienced growth in home and garden search volumes across all devices but most significantly in smartphone searches. The survey also revealed that 43% of offline purchase journeys began online.
