Minimum wage due to rise £416 a year

pay rise

The Low Pay Commission has recommended that the minimum wage be increased by 20p to £6.70 an hour, which would give millions of workers a pay rise of more than £400 a year. Business secretary Vince Cable said the Government could announce whether it is adopting the recommendation in the budget next month. Katja Hall, from the CBI, praised the suggested rise, saying the body had struck a 'careful balance'. The commission said the pace of the economic revival justified an increase that was higher than inflation and average wage growth.
