Mazmednorth Purchases Norwich Pharmacy and Plans Future Growth

Mazmednorth Ltd has opened its first pharmacy in Norwich after receiving a £240,000 funding package from Santander Corporate & Commercial.

A new pharmacy group based in Norfolk, Mazmednorth Ltd, has opened its first pharmacy in Norwich after receiving a £240,000 funding package from Santander Corporate & Commercial.

The funding has been used to purchase the pharmacy on Vauxhall Street, protecting at least five jobs. The pharmacy also houses the local Post Office, which was due to be closed down but has been saved following strong public support.

Mazmednorth’s founding directors, Mehdi Kazemaliloo and Maziar Moadabbi, have worked in the pharmacy sector for 13 years, with Mehdi previously owning and operating a pharmacy on the Isle of Wight.

The owners are concentrating on developing more services, such as a Medicines Use Review service at the pharmacy. Extended opening hours have already been put in place, resulting in an increased number of customers and prescriptions.

Maz Moadabbi, Owner, Vauxhall Street Pharmacy, said: “These are exciting times for us as we begin the process of opening a number of, what we hope, will be a chain of successful pharmacy businesses. We are thrilled that we could save the local Post Office and include this within our unit, much to our delight and the delight of the local community. Santander has been integral to our success and we’re delighted to have received such strong support from the team.”

Jon Humphreys, Relationship Director, Santander Corporate & Commercial, said: “The management team at Vauxhall Street Pharmacy have a clear vision for the business. This is a business which will truly benefit the local community and I’m confident that this store is only the beginning. Maz and the team are already on the hunt for a second outlet and we hope that we can continue working with them in the future.”
