Manchester is northern light for property investors

Manchester is top of a list of the most attractive cities for commercial property investment outside London, leading the way for the government's northern powerhouse strategy. The city has secured £8.2bn of investment in the past decade, more than Birmingham's £6.5bn or Glasgow's £5.3bn, according to a survey by CBRE. On a per capita basis Manchester was beaten by Glasgow and Leeds, as well as Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Bristol. Some £44.4bn was invested across 12 regional cities analysed in the report, with regions beyond the south east accounting for nearly 60% of UK commercial real estate transactions.
