London-based Greenlight Healthcare Limited (“Green Light Pharmacy”), a community focused pharmacy group, has significantly expanded its portfolio of pharmacies across the UK capital, hiring additional staff following £1.96 million in funding from Santander Corporate & Commercial.London

Greenlight Healthcare Limited, has significantly expanded its portfolio of pharmacies across the UK capital, hiring additional staff following £1.96 million in funding from SCCB.

Established in 1999 by pharmacists John Foreman and Tim O’Donoghue with a first practice in Euston, the company has increased its portfolio to a total of five and seen annual turnover pass £4 million as of the last financial year.

Green Light Pharmacy, which has set itself a target of reaching a total of seven pharmacies in 2015, differentiates itself via a strong community ethos that filters down across its business model. The firm is participating in the UK government’s apprenticeships scheme; supports local young adults via a programme of sustainable, long-term employment and operates as an employee-owned company with, currently, 45 shareholders.

The funding from Santander Corporate & Commercial has assisted in the acquisition of a further two pharmacy units: in Harrow and Victoria respectively. The pharmacies will undergo a rebrand, including fit-outs and an increase in service offerings to customers.

John Foreman, Founder, Greenlight Healthcare Ltd, said: “With our ambition to change the predominant pharmacy model from its narrow focus of prescriptions and retailing to a model that puts wellness, education and prevention at its focus, our pharmacy group has gone from strength to strength. We are very grateful to Santander for supporting our growth.”

Shrena Patel, Relationship Director, Santander Corporate & Commercial, said: “We’re delighted to support such an innovative and socially responsible organisation which is expanding significantly and has already reached its target of building the portfolio to seven pharmacies in 2015. Green Light has developed a successful business model with a focus on the wellbeing of the community, with aims to improve the social cohesion of the communities they are based in with a model of customer care and service delivery considered to be the ‘future of pharmacy.”
