Jason Proctor, Senior Products Manager for Asset Finance at Santander, outlines a great new fleet management product for SME customers – the SME Vehicle Funding Solution – provided by LeasePlan Go.

Q: What is the SME Vehicle Funding Solution?

A: It is our new Asset Finance fleet management product which we are delivering in partnership with LeasePlan Go, specifically for SME customers with between one and 100 vehicles. The solution includes ordering, delivery, servicing and maintenance for the lifetime of the vehicles, helping business owners to cut down on time spent on related administration. It also enables them to better manage cashflow, as they don’t have to worry about unexpected costs related to their fleet.

Q: Who are LeasePlan Go?

A: LeasePlan Go is a division of LeasePlan, one of the world’s largest vehicle management and leasing providers. With operations in 30 countries, LeasePlan has developed a reputation for delivering solutions to clients, managing over 130,000 vehicles in the UK. LeasePlan Go has been formed specifically to cater to businesses operating small to medium sized fleets of vehicles, and benefits from the support and systems infrastructure of LeasePlan.

Q: Are the costs competitive?

A: We offer one fixed monthly cost which covers all service and maintenance requirements, meaning the whole process is simple and reduces the hassle-factor of running a fleet. It also helps in freeing up credit lines for additional finance, as the SME Vehicle Funding Solution is designed to be held ‘off balance sheet’, while additional tax benefits may also be available depending on your VAT status, vehicle usage and CO2 emissions.

Q: Will my business be eligible?

A: The SME Vehicle Funding Solution is available to SMEs which have been trading for over two years, with the only exclusions around those businesses which use vehicles for sub-hire and rewards (such as taxis, rental and driving schools); where the vehicle carries hazardous goods; or where usage may have a significant impact on the condition of your vehicle upon return. Also, if your fleet requirement is greater than 100 vehicles, we have a solution available via our relationship with Zenith.

Q: Is there an option available if I want to take a vehicle personally?

A: We can cover personal vehicle requirements for Directors and employee cash takers. Personal Contract Hire enables customers to take vehicles in their own name and still benefit from same buying power and services that our business customers can.

Q: How do I go about accessing this solution?

A: Your local Santander Relationship Director can provide you with more information and, once you’ve decided to go ahead, will give your details to LeasePlan Go. They will then contact you directly and use their expertise and knowledge to enable you to get the vehicles you require in the time-frames you need and at a cost which works for your business. All that’s left for you to do is insure your vehicles and go!
