Bank Card, Four in Every Five Pounds Spent in Shops via Cards - SantanderCB

Payments company Creditcall has revealed that machines selling snacks, drinks and phone chargers are rapidly adopting card and contactless technology, with the number rising 20% a year. Coca-Cola is among the big brands to have the new technology installed in its vending machines and the British Parking Association predicts that by 2018 most car park machines will give motorists the option of paying by contactless cards. Some 78.5% of spending in UK shops is now done with credit and debit cards according to the UK Cards Association trade, which released the findings to mark 10 years since the introduction of Chip and Pin. In 2006, only 55% of spending at retailers was made by card.
