EU funding to boost Welsh tourism

EU - European Regional Development fund backs Tourism Attractor Destinations - SantanderCB

The Tourism Attractor Destinations scheme, which has received £27.7m in backing from the European Regional Development Fund, hopes to create ten 'must visit' attractions in Wales and grow the Welsh tourism sector 10% by 2020. The total value of the funding package could be as high as £85m and represents the single largest EU investment made in the sector. The ten projects will now progress to the next stage for individual assessment and agreement before building works can commence. These include the Pendine Land Speed Cultural Centre & Eco Resort complex in Carmarthenshire, which will feature a new museum dedicated to the Land Speed record, a heritage and arts centre and an eco-activity holiday resort.
