Dealmaking in the East Midlands: plenty of meat to chew on

Deals - Total value of deals in the East Midlands last year was £7.6bn - SantanderCB

The total value of deals in the East Midlands last year was £7.6bn, of which £4.7bn was accounted for by the ten biggest transactions alone.

Average deal sizes were probably a little lower than in previous years according to John Farnsworth, head of corporate finance at Smith Cooper.

Figures cited by Midlands Business Insider show there were 88 smaller deals (sub-£10m) in the East Midlands where the price is known, compared with 40 in the mid-range sector (£10m-£100m) and ten at over £100m.

The publication lists Santander among the top 10 debt providers, with a figure of £22.4m – this put the bank in eighth place in the region.
