Codebase Unveils next Phase of Digital Incubator Expansion in Edinburgh

CodeBase is to lease an additional 10,000 sq ft of space at Argyle House in Edinburgh, supported by funding from Santander Corporate & Commercial

CodeBase, Europe’s fastest-growing tech incubator, is to lease an additional 10,000 sq ft of space at Argyle House in Edinburgh, supported by £100,000 in funding from Santander Corporate & Commercial.

Opened in March 2014, CodeBase is already the fastest growing incubator in Europe, with the mission to build and scale the next great tech companies. CodeBase is currently home to 40 start-ups, who collectively raised over £16 million in 2013. 

The funding from Santander Corporate & Commercial will help CodeBase to further expand at its city centre location, where demand from start-up companies has already seen CodeBase take an extra floor’s space during Q3 2014. 

In a strengthening of its partnership, several CodeBase start-ups have taken on interns through the Santander Universities Internship programme. The programme aims to promote the benefits of working for an SME to third-year or recently graduated students, while providing smaller businesses with access to talented interns whose salaries are part funded by Santander for the first three months.

Jamie Coleman, CEO and founder of CodeBase, said: “The Santander team has been fully supportive as we expand the space available for some of the exciting start-ups who have decided to make their home in Edinburgh. As well as helping to fund our next phase of growth, the Santander Universities Internship programme has helped many of the companies in Argyle House to recruit university students and graduates for three-month internships, and also provided support by part funding the interns’ salaries.”
