City of London answers businesses' call for superfast broadband

Plans to provide the City of London's own infrastructure for superfast broadband are being drawn up to help smaller businesses and residents who are frustrated with the services provided by BT. The telecoms group has been criticised by City businesses who complain about being unable to access superfast broadband services available elsewhere in Britain. The problems have even affected parts of Tech City, the east London technology hub, where start-ups often depend on fast connections. The City of London Corporation will now take its own steps to boost broadband provision in the financial district, offering its buildings and street furniture as sites for masts capable of carrying superfast mobile broadband.
