Chilean President to deliver 2016 Canning Lecture
Held annually since 1997, the Canning Lecture has been delivered by a visiting Latin American or Iberian President.
This year’s lecture will be delivered by Her Excellency Michelle Bachelet, President of the Republic of Chile.
Santander is proud to be one of the supporting companies of the 2016 lecture.
Recent Canning Lectures have been given by The Prime Minister of Portugal, Pedro Passos Coelho (2013), The President of Chile, Sebastián Piñera (2012), The President of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos (2011).
In a slight break with tradition, the 2010 Lecture was given by Foreign Secretary, William Hague MP who used the platform as an opportunity to outline the coalition government’s policy of re-engagement with Latin America – The Canning Agenda.
