Centre for Innovation is ideal base for SMEs

A specialist business centre called the Centre for Innovation at Swans is set to open in Wallsend, offering an ideal base for North Tyneside SMEs in the energy, marine and offshore sectors. It is located within the River Tyne North Bank Low Carbon Enterprise Zone, and as such offers a number of benefits for companies locating to the site before March 2018, including up to five years' business rates relief and a simplified planning scheme. The Kier Property development has involved the conversion of two floors of a five-storey office block owned by North Tyneside Council. The centre, which has been part-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, is part of a part of North Tyneside Council's ongoing work to transform the world-famous former Swan Hunter shipyard into a hub for firms linked to advanced engineering, marine, renewable and subsea sectors.
