Buyout at historic South West builders' merchant

Barnstable-based building supplies specialist RGB Building Supplies, which can trace its roots back 165 years, has undergone a family and management buyout led by chief executive Kevin Fenlon and finance director Paul Turner, with the support of Santander Corporate and Commercial. RGB recorded turnover of more than £52m in the year to the end of March, up from £47.7m the previous 12-month period, and employs almost 300 staff. Operations have expanded in recent years following the purchase of branches in Porthleven and Penzance along with the opening of a site in Exmouth. Future plans include the development of a kitchen and bathroom studio in Exeter, taking more office space in Barnstaple, and the opening of two sites in Okehampton and Torquay in 2016. Paul Julian, relationship director at Santander, worked in the buyout.
