British-made luxury cars on a roll after bumper 2014

Premium cars made in Britain flew out of dealerships for much of 2014. Yesterday Bentley and BMW-Mini, both of which have sizeable UK operations, reported record sales for last year just days after Rolls-Royce posted a fifth consecutive year of record car sales. The announcements were a further boost to the UK auto industry, coinciding with new sales data confirming that registrations rose almost 10% in 2014 to reach the highest annual total for a decade. David Raistrick, UK automotive leader at Deloitte, said the sector had entered 2015 'full of optimism'. Final registration data for last year had 'surpassed everyone's expectations', he noted.
