Birmingham-Based Mechatronic Solutions Expands its International Presence with New Funding

Birmingham-based Mechatronic Solutions, one of the UK’s leading providers of innovative automation solutions and systems integration services, is to further develop its new manufacturing solution, ROBOPOD, as well as increase its presence abroad following a £1.3 million financing package from Santander Corporate & Commercial.

Established 25 years ago, the business has delivered over 400 projects to date across a wide range of manufacturing sectors including the automotive, aerospace and medical industries. The business creates solutions such as robotic cells, automated assembly lines and cellular manufacturing to create processes and systems that can deliver economy, speed and quality to any manufacturing environment. In an indication of the strong growth of the company, so far this year Mechatronic Solutions has increased its workforce by 30% and now employs between 30 and 50 temporary and permanent staff.
The funding from Santander Corporate & Commercial has allowed Mechatronic Solutions to develop and launch an innovative robotic application, unique to the UK manufacturing industry, called ROBOPOD. The product, which has just been launched at the Advanced Manufacturing Show, will help the firm expand its presence particularly in the food, medical and pharmaceutical manufacturing industries.
In addition, while the firm has established a presence in Europe, the £1.3 million financing package from Santander Corporate & Commercial has allowed the business to expand its operations into new markets by access to working capital.
Richard Evans, Managing Director of Mechatronic Solutions, said: “We look forward to working closely with Santander over the next year as we diversify our core business model to include standard product solutions alongside our bespoke automated offerings. This financing package has helped us to progress a new business venture in India, a market we have identified as a key growth area for the next couple of years.”
Leon Sloyan, Relationship Director at Santander Corporate & Commercial, said: “Mechatronic Solutions has positioned itself as one of the leading providers in automated solutions. This is an exciting time for the business and we have used our extensive international experience and services to help them expand abroad. Innovation is at the heart of Mechatronic’s business model and its new standardised robotic manufacturing solution, ‘Robopod’, is not only the first of its kind in the industry but also a demonstration of their desire to be one of the market leaders in automated manufacturing.”
