Banks serve customers better than ever, says BBA

The British Bankers' Association will publish research at its annual conference today estimating that almost 2,000 bank branches have closed in the past five years, taking the total to below 10,000. However, the BBA will assert that bank customers are better served despite branch closures, claiming online and Post Office services have made up for shutting branches. The BBA will highlight a deal with the Post Office this year to offer banking services through 11,500 of its sites. The BBA says that 99.9% of Britons live within a 20-minute drive of a branch or Post Office.
