Bank Volunteers get into Action to Help Merseyside Support Group

Employees from Santander’s Bootle office recently spent the day at Merseyside Play Action Council to help redecorate two of the charity’s meetings rooms and an annex building.

Employees from Santander’s Bootle office recently spent the day at Merseyside Play Action Council to help redecorate two of the charity’s meetings rooms and an annex building. The activity saw 12 volunteers help re-paint the rooms so that the spaces could be rented out to local businesses in order to raise additional funds. Santander also donated £250 to cover the cost of paint and other essential materials needed for the redecoration.

Merseyside Play Action Council has been developing play in Liverpool since 1974. The charity provides year-round advocacy, support and advice for charities, organisations and community groups offering children and young people’s activities.

Ann Dobie, Merseyside Play Action Council, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to all of the Santander volunteers for their time and dedication to help redecorate the meeting rooms. Creating new sources of income to help fund the charity is key to ensuring we can continue our work with children and young people from across Merseyside.”

Deana Ryan, Operations Manager at Santander’s Bootle Office, said: “The team worked tirelessly to ensure all that the rooms were fully redecorated in one day. We hope that the rental of these rooms will provide the charity with the additional income they require to support local charities, organisations and community groups.”

Santander’s Community Days scheme encourages staff to take a day out of the office to volunteer with a local cause.  Last year over 2,700 members of staff took part in 256 projects across the country, including refurbishing local schools, hospitals and helping with community projects.
