Up, up and away as Airbus leads world sales of aircraft for 2014

Airbus has secured its place as the world's leading aircraft manufacturer after announcing it took 1,456 net orders for new jets last year. The trans-European company said 2014 was its second-best sales performance ever, and the total compared with US rival Boeing's 1,432 sales for the year. Fabrice Bregier, Airbus president and chief executive, also sought to clarify the future of the company's A380 superjumbo, insisting it has a long and bright future.
