£20m in commercial funding from Santander will help vet group to reach long-term growth target of 700 practices

Pets At Home Vet Group, the UK's largest veterinary joint venture group, has secured £20m in commercial funding from Santander Corporate & Commercial to help it reach its long-term growth target of 700 UK practices. Established in 2001, the Vet Group operates under the Vets4Pets and Companion Care brands and currently has over 300 veterinary practices, located in Pets At Home stores or as standalone units. The funding from Santander Corporate & Commercial will help fund the opening of more practices both in Pets At Home stores and at standalone locations. The additional growth will create a large number of skilled jobs. Steve Bateman, relationship director at Santander Corporate & Commercial, commented: 'Vets4Pets and Companion Care have excelled in their chosen segment, finding strong demand for their services from vets and pet owners across the UK. The business model is extremely robust and I'm wholly confident of the company's future strategy'.
