Zenobē powers up for expansion

Zenobē
Established in 2017, Zenobē Energy is one of the largest independent owners and operators of battery storage. Zenobē provides intelligent flexible power solutions to commercial EV fleet operators, utilities, industrial and commercial businesses.
The company’s battery storage services help clients manage power more effectively so they can lower costs, improve resilience and reduce their environmental impact.
Following the successful financing of a battery storage project in 2019 and with the ambition to expand, Zenobē reached out to Santander for further funding.
This funding was crucial to allow Zenobē to begin construction on its flagship 100 MW/107 MWh battery at Capenhurst, near Chester and to support their future growth aspirations.
Santander continue to support our expansion in the battery storage sector. We remain focussed on innovation within our technology and operational areas. Their backing is crucial to delivering our future pipeline of battery energy storage projects across the UK.

Co-Founder and Director, Zenobē
The battery is the first to absorb reactive power direct from a transmission network and it will also be the largest transmission connected battery in Europe.
This is a great example of how Santander is helping support the sustainability aims and objectives of its clients.
We’re delighted to support Zenobē with this landmark transaction and to have further cemented our relationship with this exciting company. It’s a pleasure to work with established and ambitious management teams like Zenobē, to deliver complex funding solutions and unlock growth opportunities. With the combination of equity and Santander debt, Zenobē can continue to grow the business and deliver on its strategy in the developing battery storage sector.
