Beauty salon revitalised with funding for online shop

The Barn

The Barn

Created in 2008 by owner Kelly Hooper, The Barn is a destination beauty salon offering a combination of a salon and spa in the countryside.

When The Barn had to close their salon during the first lockdown, Santander supported Kelly with a Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan (CBILS). This allowed her to diversify her business, setting up an online shop and upgrading the website to generate £55,000 of sales in just four months.

Working closely with the team at Santander, we secured the funding to launch our online shop, which mitigated the impact of the salon being closed. It’s fantastic to be able to reach new customers at home and as a business we feel well placed to navigate the ongoing uncertainty with Santander’s support.

The support also enabled Kelly to re-open the salon, when lockdown eased, with the correct health and safety standards in place. Then with a second national lockdown, she was able to continue with the new revenue stream online.

Kelly has established a fantastic business at The Barn. When the impact of lockdown became apparent, Kelly moved quickly to diversify and open a new online income stream. We’re proud to work with Kelly and to support the beauty industry, which is a major contributor to UK GDP.
