BDS builds on catalogue of success

Based in Dumfries, BDS was founded in 1995 by the incumbent management team. They aggregate, curate and deliver metadata relating to print and e-books, audiobooks, film, music and video games. They also specialise in the design, build, hosting and maintenance of websites for the book trade and home entertainment industry.

Through a competitive tender process with six providers, Santander were able to convey a real understanding of the BDS business model to win the deal and onboard them as a new client. The deal was delivered virtually at the height of coronavirus with no government schemes used, all in a short space of five weeks.

Santander truly understands our business objectives and group strategy, making them a front runner from the start. Their support has been professional, knowledgeable, and efficient, enabling us to move our banking and secure the funding in record time.

The deal supports BDS with a buy back from a legacy minority shareholder and returns more control to the founding management team and opens up new opportunities for growth.

BDS is an exceptional business and we're delighted to support Lesley, Eric and the whole BDS team with the next phase of their growth journey. This transaction was conducted exclusively by virtual means and demonstrates our ability to support businesses in the current economic environment.
